York training centre is widely recognised as an unofficial Centre of Excellence for Utility training (covering gas, water, and electrical sectors) in the North East of England. The centre is equipped to cover a vast range of utilities and estates & facilities management courses, as well as being home to a full-to-scale artificial street!

RelyOn York focuses on gas and energy, street works (NRSWA), multi-utility systems, health and safety compliance, wastewater and water network management, water systems and legionella control, confined spaces, as well as both high and low voltage electrical training.

‘Training Terrace’, the full-scale artificial street consisting of three purpose-built houses, street scene, a café, a deep excavation pit and a confined spaces area. This state-of-the-art facility has been used by the industry’s biggest names including Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Northern Gas Networks and Yorkshire Water. The street was built in collaboration with Northern Gas Networks, this partnership won Skills Collaboration Initiative of the Year Award from EU Skills in 2024.
